American Heritage Girls is a Christ-centered character and leadership development program for girls 5 to 18 years of age. AHG is dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community, and country. Founded by a group of parents wanting a faith-based, scout-type character development program for their daughters in 1995, the AHG Program is dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country. AHG girls across the nation and the globe participate in badge programs, service projects, leadership opportunities, and outdoor experiences, all with an emphasis on Christian values and family involvement.
Western Hills Church of Christ is proud to serve as the charter organization for AHG Troop OK8601 in Lawton, which was formed in November 2013, as the first AHG Troop in southwest Oklahoma. The numbers "8601" were specifically chosen as a nod to the city of Lawton, which was named a city on August 6, 1901 (08/06/01). The troop began with two moms and their two daughters who felt God's calling to share the "faith, service, and fun" they were enjoying together in AHG with other families in the area. Since the first meetings in early 2014, many families
and daughters have grown through their participation in this local troop. Western Hills Church of Christ serves as the troop charter organization by providing volunteer, monetary and prayer support, as well as the use of church facilities.
AHG Troops can be found in every state and 15 countries around the world through the Trailblazer Membership. A variety of Christian denominations are also represented as Charter Organizations for Troops. There are thousands of volunteer members across the country helping girls to grow in their faith, cultivate a heart for service, enjoy the great outdoors, and have more fun than they can imagine!
